New sole design & material optimisation
|
Problem -
calculating the optimum
size, shape and material properties for new sole design for
a robust walking boot
Solution
- CDG undertook contact
analysis to simulate the heel of the boot striking the floor
and used an iterative process to optimise the size, shape
and materials

Port analysis to withstand high pressures
|
Problem -
the design required analysis
to ensure that fatigue stresses would not cause a failure
between the high pressure ports
Solution
- CDG completed the analysis
study to prove that the design met the required strength criteria
and created a VRML file to view the hidden detail, where the
maximum stresses were situated

Plastic roadway to withstand a
40-tonne truck
|
Problem -
to design a plastic roadway
to withstand the static and dynamic forces for heavy duty
military vehicles
Solution
- CDG created the design
for an all-terrain track, with 1m panels that clipped together
with ease, whist being capable of withstanding the maximum
loads

Pcb deflection testing for microchip
manufacture
|
Problem -
when testing micro chips,
the required accuracy for the testing equipment is within
a few microns. The pcb used for the test deflects due to loads
and a vacuum. But by how much?
Solution
- CDG proved the size
and design of the pcb required to minimise the deflection
to an acceptable level.

Roof tile volume reduction
& analysis study

|
Problem -
when manufacturing millions
of roof tiles per year, a small saving in volume can reduce
the material costs dramatically. The goal was to reduce volume
by 10% without reducing strength
Solution
- CDG completed this
task through a combination of Pro/E and Mechanica software
tools
