CONCURRENT Design Group project featured on the BBC's 'Tomorrows World'
A project undertaken by CONCURRENT Design Group for the

company Rola-Trac has been featured on the BBC Tomorrows World programme.

Rola-Trac designs and manufactures temporary flooring used at all types of events. CONCURRENT

Design Group were approached by Rola-trac to engineer and design a new generation of temporary

flooring suitable for use with military vehicles, such as lorries and helicopters. The flooring, called

Sup-a-trac was to be light, extremely strong and quick to assemble.

CONCURRENT Design Group used Rola-Tracs designs and put them into a CAD environment

using Pro/ENGINEER. They also carried out stress analysis to ensure the flooring could withstand

the landing weight of a helicopter and usage from other military machinery.

Once the project was completed, the new Supa-Trac flooring was testing on the BBC Tomorrows

World Programme in June 2002. The feature firstly showed the speed in which the flooring could be

assembled in comparison to aluminium flooring currently used by the RAF. Secondly, it showed an

Apache Helicopter landing successfully on the new flooring, which remained intact.
